Police take No Further Action against medical professional after Quentin’s intervention.

Mrs AY was subject to an investigation by Surrey Police in respect of an alleged altercation in a car park when she was driving her Range Rover Motor vehicle. This resulted in a complaint to police and a police investigation into her conduct under the Public Order Act 1986. Mrs AY maintained her innocence. She was particularly concerned as to the propriety of the police investigation into her conduct as she feared bias on the part of the investigating officers. AY is a medical professional and as very concerned about the effect of any criminal conviction upon her professional career and standing, she instructed Criminal Barrister Quentin Hunt to liaise with the Police and to try to ensure that no action was taken against her.

Upon receipt of instruction in the case Quentin adopted a proactive approach towards dealing with the Police investigation. He immediately held a conference with AY and her husband and took instructions on the basis of the complaint and the activities of the Police officer who had been investigating her. Following receipt of instructions Quentin immediately made contact with the investigating Officer seeking details of the supervising officer and outlining some of the concerns that AY had about the investigation which was being undertaken. Shortly following Quentin’s contact he received an email from the investigating officer stating that the investigation was being ‘screened out’ and that no further action was being taken against her. Quentin communicated this news to AY who was very relieved that the shadow of a police investigation that had been ongoing for some time. Due to no action being taken there was no prospect of a criminal conviction and the attendant problems that this could have caused for her personal and professional life.
